In the Early 1980’s, four golf enthusiasts, Joel Pinkham, Jim Linklater, Steve Banonis and Paul De Haan were all employed by Kazoo Golf Company located on Shaver Road in Portage, Michigan. Kazoo Golf Company was a golf pro shop and driving range that specialized in custom golf clubs, golf club repair and golf lessons.
In December of 1983, the four individuals had an opportunity to take-over an existing golf facility on the west side of Kalamazoo. Once financing was established, they had to come up with a name that fit their mission – Golf Services.
Since Golf Services first season in 1984, there have been a few business partner changes – mostly employees becoming owners – as well as several driving range and pro shop improvements. Our biggest expansion came in 2004, when we moved the facility north of the old location, constructing a bigger pro shop building and expanding the driving range by more than 40%.
Today, Golf Services still has the same business philosophy we started in 1984 – to Service the Golfer with all they need to just play better golf. From quality golf equipment to lessons and from golf club repair to a TrackMan driving range, you’ll find it all at Golf Services.
